How Diet Food Plans Rob You of Nutrition

How Diet Food Plans Rob You of Nutrition

Have you ever really looked at what you are told to eat on diet food plans?  A low-carb based diet plan has you eating a ridiculous amount of protein and fat.  Low calorie plans often restrict your options to tasteless, boring meals day after day.  Even the best diet plans struggle to balance nutrition and weight loss, because the food they assign people just isn’t healthful.  What is a person to do?

The Past Offers Clues
Think about how our ancestors ate, even just 100 years ago.  Whole grains, meats raised on the plains while eating grass, vegetables and fruits they grew without the use of chemicals and dairy products straight from the animal – unpasteurized and raw.  Processed foods had not yet been invented, and nearly no one was overweight.

Why are We Fat?
An increasing body of evidence points to the fact that the foods we eat are preprocessed and loaded with salt, unhealthy fats and sugar to entice us to overeat.  No matter what you put back into a food after it has been processed, your body doesn’t treat it the same way it does real, honest food.

]]>

Take grains, for example.  Whole grains have an outer layer that is filled with nutrients, fiber and healthy oils.  Those all spoil quickly.  As a result, manufacturers remove this outer layer and store the stripped grain or flour until they are ready.  Often the grain is sprayed with anti-fungal chemicals to prevent it from becoming contaminated.  Later, when it is time to sell the product, new nutrients are added, in chemical form.  Yes, that cereal is fortified – but with what?

Sugar is the Main Culprit
Sugar wreaks havoc on the body’s metabolism.  We are all aware of the fact that we should avoid simple sugars, since the insulin reaction they cause can create highs and lows in our energy.  What we don’t often realize is that sugar hides in many forms.  Even that whole wheat sandwich you are eating can cause a similar reaction.

When your body senses a surge in blood sugar, created by an influx of simple carbohydrates, for instance, it dumps insulin into the blood stream.  The insulin quickly removes the sugar and turns it into fat.  Of course, that causes the awful crash we are all familiar with.  In response, we eat more sugary foods.  Do you see the problem?

What can we do?
Your first goal should be to turn away from as many processed, sugar laden foods as you can.  It takes time, but start by turning your kitchen into an organic and healthy place to eat.  Search for organic produce, grass fed meats, raw milk products, whole organic eggs and poultry, wild caught fish and more.  Try a variety of whole grains such as quinoa, spelt, teff and brown rice – and always combine them with a source of healthy protein.   Get your calcium from dark, leafy vegetables, where it is more bio-available.

Finally, get the knowledge you need to redefine your relationship with what you are putting in your mouth.  This is a journey well worth making and it doesn’t require any diet food plans – just good common sense.

Nutrition For Seniors – How Seniors Can Thrive on Nutritious Super Foods!

Nutrition For Seniors – How Seniors Can Thrive on Nutritious Super Foods!

When you get older a lot of things begin to change and that even includes the type of nutrition that is required. As you get older you are not going to need as many calories but the calories that you do eat need to be from the healthier types of food or super foods. It is an unfortunate reality that we all have to get old but there is no reason for us to not try to stay healthy and stay young feeling for as long as we can and some of these foods can help you do just that.

There are a lot of different reasons that an older person can become malnourished. It can be from some sort of illness, the fact that they have less money to buy food with, because depression has set in, the type of medicine they may have and simply not knowing some of the reasons why they get malnourished. If a person tries to do some sort of exercise during the day will help increase their appetite so they will eat more and will also make them feel better. Supplements can also help in areas where they might be lacking in nutrition.

Eating healthier as a senior makes a lot of sense and those around seniors should reach out and make sure that they are doing this. Understand that when someone begins to age that a lot of things may come with it like sickness, problems with families and of course the lack of money to get the right foods.

It’s a good idea to make sure that when you get older that you start filling up that refrigerator with lots of different bright and colorful fruits and veggies. You need to make sure first that they are the ones you like and are going to eat of course. Some of the super foods that you might want to keep on hand would be spinach, kale, peppers (red, green, yellow), broccoli, tomatoes and extremely heart friendly avocado. Some of the super food fruits are oranges, apricots, all types of melons, different kinds of berries, peaches as well as all varieties of apples. All of these foods are packed with vitamins and minerals that your body needs and they make great in between meal snacks as well. Try and plan your meals around these super foods.

Some super food proteins and dairy items are fish especially salmon and halibut. You should try and fix yourself something with fish at least 2 or 3 times a week. You also might want to keep cans of salmon or tuna around when you are in need of a meal that won’t take any time to fix. Also chicken breast is a super food that can be cooked in a variety of different ways. Other meats you should make sure they are only of lean cuts. You should make sure you eat yogurt and low fat milk as well for the health of your bones.

Even if you are on a tight budget you can still get the super foods that you need to make a nutritional diet. For instance you can get a bunch of these veggies and make a large pot of soup and freeze the rest into smaller portion sizes for eating at a later date. You can do the same thing by making large amounts of homemade stew which is hearty and good for you.

It’s always a good idea to try and keep stocked up on foods that are not only high in nutritional value but are also easy for you to cook. When there is only one or two of you sometimes it almost doesn’t seem worth the chore of cooking so try to keep the recipes simple.

Final note: Always try to keep on hand healthy snack foods like nuts, baked chips, and whole grain crackers. These are quick and give you the nutrition needed and serve as quick pick me ups during the day.

Organic Whole Food Nutrition Powder: Can This Provide Longevity Benefits?

Organic Whole Food Nutrition Powder: Can This Provide Longevity Benefits?

Organic whole food nutrition powder has recently become more popular for its’ health and wellness benefits. You can find green food powder, and other types of products at your local health food store, however, you may not be sure of which one to purchase.

The reason powder nutrition has become more popular lately is because many of us, especially in the USA are not getting proper nutrition on a daily basis. With busy lives, fast food choices, that can actually harm health have become staples in the american diet.

Some researchers say that people in this country suffer from malnutrition because all of the refined and processed foods that are consumed lack nutritional value.

When people regularly eat a poor diet, it becomes hard to stay healthy. Health, wellness, and longevity must be accompanied by a healthy nutrition plan, because we truly “are what we eat”

]]>

Organic whole food nutrition powder, when complete with the right ingredients can be a part of this plan. When the product is fermented, however, this can also provide enhanced health benefits.

Organic whole foods, as part of our diet can give our body the nutrition that it needs. When using fermentation, this helps:

1. Increase vitamin absorption.

2. Adds certain enzymatic properties.

3. Enhances the taste of food.

4. Helps with digestion.

These are certain benefits of adding a fermentation among others.

It is important to remember, however, that adding whole food nutrition powder to your diet can add longevity and wellness benefits.

Unfortunately, without a good diet,a regular exercise plan, relaxation, and decreased stress, this is not the only answer.

Organic whole food nutrition, can, however, give your body the nutrients that it may not be getting otherwise. Remember to do your research and find the best, most affordable product on the market today before you make your purchase.
